Yes, what we talk about will be held confidential, however there are 4 exceptions that would require me to break confidentiality. If I believe you have an imminent plan to hurt yourself or someone else, I would need to report this. If you tell me that a child in your life is in danger, I would need to report this as well. Lastly, if anything in your life came into a court of law, a judge could subpoena my notes.

Intrusive thoughts about harming yourself or your baby can be very upsetting to experience, but are actually quite common. You are safe to share these with me. Therapists are trained to differentiate between intrusive thoughts -- which are unwelcome, distressing, and you don't intend to act on -- compared with genuine risk or intention to harm.
